My night with Anne Marie

Anne Marie concert

Anne Marie in concert, Barrowland’s, Glasgow, 26th of November 2018.

Anne Marie from England 29 singer/ song writer became famous for her talent when she was 12 on whistle down the wind. Anne Marie has many other skills like karate and has kept this up along with her singing career. She released her demo song in 2013 and toured with Dizzel Rascal and Will Heard developed her career further as she gained a reputation and acknowledgement from fans.

The Barrowland’s was simple stage and concert room with no chairs or place for a seat. There was a bar, but the alcohol was given in plastic cups as the security guards checked for dangerous objects and use of glasses to prevent fights and accidents. There were two exit doors leading out to the main street, they would make sure that there were people coming in from both doors so that there was not too much crowding on the stairs leading up to the concert room. I found it quite hard to stand for a long period of time and ended up sitting down on the step leading up to the bar waiting for the main event to begin.

Anne Marie did not just sing and do great at it she also put on a great show and performance that pulled the audience into her world. She also had great background support for sound and production. Anne Marie also spoke to us from the stage about her life and what her songs meant to her, this made me like her even more because that meant she was genuine to me. Listening to her sing was inspiring because her words are not just words, they are experiences she has gone through and about her overcoming challenges.

Anne Marie is a female role model for me because she persisted with a career that is extremely hard to get into. She also promotes body positivity and the right to be make up free this shows me that she wants women to know it is ok to have curves and spots because it makes us who we are. She also shows me that anyone can do anything if you put your mind to it. Even though being famous you can get a lot of criticism - just like in normal life - Anne Marie shows me not to let it bother you and take it on its stride and see it as a positive.
