Peterhead and Strathburn primary schools
In these two powerful animations, created with Jim Stirk and pupils from Strathburn Primary School and Peterhead Primary School, we hear the real stories of young people who have moved to Scotland.
Through their voices and artwork, we learn about the journeys they took, the reasons they had to leave their home countries, and the challenges they faced when they arrived—especially with communication and making new friends.
They share what they miss about their previous homes, what they like about their new lives, and what helped them settle in. From friendships to finding others with similar experiences to guide them, these stories highlight the importance of belonging, support, and understanding in helping young people feel at home in a new place.
These animations invite us to listen, learn, and think about how we can all make Scotland a welcoming place for every young person.
